In 1941, the Tuason Family acquired Squires Bingham Company, a British-owned company that imported and sold sporting and civilian firearms and ammunition in the Philippines. In the early 1950’s, the President of the Philippines granted the Tuason Family permission to manufacture firearms and ammunition as part of the government's thrust towards nationalization of Philippine industries. This gave birth to Squires Bingham Manufacturing Company. Squires Bingham Company continued its marketing and selling activities.
In 1980, the manufacturing company was reorganized as Arms Corporation of the Philippines (ARMSCOR or the Company). New manufacturing technologies were introduced, especially for its niche markets in home protection, security, and sporting activities. Research and development is continued for police and military defense.
ARMSCOR was able to dominate the domestic firearms and ammunition market. It was also able to successfully export its products to over 65 countries, including the United States, South America, Australia, and Southeast Asia. The success in international trade attests to the quality and cost competitiveness of ARMSCOR’s products.
In December 1997, it was granted its ISO 9001 certification, and has upgraded its ISO certification to date. At present, exports account for about 70% of the total sales. ARMSCOR has also been participating directly in government biddings since 2009. It is also amenable to represent other companies in said public biddings and assist in government-to-government transactions.
With the company's efforts in venturing into the defense industry in 2017, Arms Corporation of the Philippines is renamed ARMSCOR GLOBAL DEFENSE, INC. In the same year, ARMSCOR also organized and held its own show dubbed as the Tactical, Survival and Arms Expo (TACS EXPO) – a show that promotes defense, security and survival for a sustainable living in one of the biggest event venues in the Philippines.
ARMSCOR's manufacturing capabilities also extends to production of artworks through its foundry – Precision Foundry of the Philippines, Inc., with one of its creation - the PMAyer monument, now the most photographed landmark at the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio.
Precision Foundry of the Philippines, Inc. (PFPI) is a company engaged in the manufacture of precision investment castings, metal injection moulding & plastic injection parts. The company was initially established in 1987 to produce firearm components for its sister company, Arms Corporation of the Philippines (Armscor). It however has expanded its market base to include parts for the automotive industry, machinery parts, high heat-resistant steels for industrial boiler, parts for dental equipment, furniture accessories, art pieces such as brass sculpture. PFPI is capable of producing cast parts made from steel, stainless, aluminum & copper alloys. Capitalizing on its relationship with Armscor. PFPI can also provide the machining and finishing of precision parts that it produces and do the assembly of these when so required by the customer.
