The steel industry is one of the strategic industries that can encourage the progress of countries in the ASEAN region. As a developing region, the increasing demand for steel has yet to be met by existing production so that the ASEAN region still has a dependence on steel imports from around the world. Various investments and technologies have been developed by countries around the world to increase the productivity of their steel industry, which allows it to be adopted by the steel industry in the ASEAN region. however, there are challenges that arise in adapting to current conditions, such as climate issues and the availability of raw and supporting materials, which require answers. Therefore, it is important for steel industries in ASEAN region to understand the development of new technologies that is applicable to their country.
Another thing that needs to be considered apart from the productivity side is the reliability of the equipment. Most of the steel industries in ASEAN still have room to develop maintenance methods so that they can further improve the reliability of the equipment installed in each plant. This increase in reliability is very important to do in order to facilitate the planning of maintenance, the arrangement of purchasing spare parts and to reduce costs for maintenance.
The rationale for holding the 2022 SEAISI e-Seminar is to understand the concepts carried out to increase productivity and reliability of installed equipment that has been carried out by Supporting member countries, and also to answer the following questions:
1. What technologies have been adopted by steel companies to increase productivity in their respective plants?
2. What are the methods and strategies that have been implemented to maintain the reliability of the installed equipment?
