The Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) announced that the steel industry will aim to reduce carbon emissions by 30% by the fiscal year 2023 compared to the level in the fiscal year 2013. The new target will be evaluated by the amount of freshwater used to reduce emissions.
The JISF approved the 2050 carbon neutrality goal last February, and the steel industry is also striving to realize carbon neutrality.
