Nucor to build $2.7 billion new steel plant capable of producing 3 million tons per year

The US steelmaker Nucor is going to build a new steel plant in West Virginia with a total investment of more than US$2.7 billion, the largest investment project in West Virginia's history, as well as the largest single investment Nucor has ever made.

Leon Topalian, President and CEO of Nucor, said they are incredibly excited to build this new steel plant in West Virginia because it would be the most advanced rolled steel plant in the world that produces the most sustainable steel.

The plant will begin operations in 2024 and will have a capacity of 3 million tons of steel plate per year for the automotive, household appliances, heavy equipment, agriculture, transportation, and construction markets.
