According to the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), Turkey’s scrap imports amounted to around 20.5 million tons in the first ten months of this year, rising by 13% compared to the same period a year ago. The import value had a year-on-year increase of 82% to more than US$8.9 billion.
Among them, the top three import sources were the EU (around 10.56 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.6%), the US (around 3.04 million tons, a year-on-year drop of 18.8%), and the CIS countries (around 2.32 million tons, a year-on-year hike of 15.1%).
In October alone, Turkey imported around 1.6 million tons of scrap, hiking by 8.5% compared to the previous month.
