Turkey’s pig iron imports fall in Jan-Sep y-o-y

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey's pig iron imports totaled around 892,000 tons in the first nine months of this year, sliding by 3.1% compared to the same period a year ago. The import value was around US$502.2 million, a year-on-year growth of 70.8%.

Among them, the top three import sources were Russia (roughly 363,800 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 28.1%), Ukraine (roughly 231,200 tons, a year-on-year drop of 0.73%), and Brazil (roughly 117,900 tons, a year-on-year hike of 52.7%).

In September alone, Turkey imported around 121,700 tons of pig iron, falling by 15.3% month on month while rising by nearly 95% year on year. The import value had a month-on-month decrease of 16.7% and a year-on-year surge of 253% to approximately US$74.3 million.
