Hoa Phat exports 8,000 tons of galvanized steel to Japan for the first time

Hoa Phat Steel Sheet, a subsidiary of Vietnam's Hoa Phat Group, completed its first shipment of approximately 8,000 tons of galvanized steel coils to Japan in the fourth quarter of 2026, marking its entry into the Japanese market.

The shipment complies with Japan's JIS G 3302 standard, meeting requirements for product specifications, spangle-free coating surfaces, and surface treatments using trivalent chromium (Cr3+) or chromium-free technology. The products also received Vietnamese certificates of origin (C/O), allowing them to qualify for applicable preferential tariffs.

In March 2026, Hoa Phat Steel obtained JIS certification from Japan's JIC Quality Assurance Ltd. (JICQA) for its cold-rolled steel, galvanized steel, aluminum-zinc alloy-coated steel, and pre-painted steel products.

The company currently operates European-imported production lines with a designed capacity of 600,000 tons per year. During January-September 2026, its total sales volume reached 307,000 tons, with exports accounting for 29.8%.

Hoa Phat Steel products are currently exported to 29 countries and territories. Following its first shipment to Japan, the company plans to further expand exports of its key products to other international markets.
