Hyundai Steel has introduced the integrated H-beam brand ‘H ONE,’ which encompasses both rolled H-beams (RH) and welded H-beams (BH), as demand for steel in large-scale construction projects such as artificial intelligence data centers (AIDC) and semiconductor fabs diversifies.
On the 12th, Hyundai Steel announced that it held the ‘H ONE’ brand launch event on the 7th at the Pangyo Techno Valley Town Hall in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. The event was attended by Hyundai Steel sales division employees, major clients including construction companies, distributors, and steel fabricators, as well as structural designers and representatives from academic and industry associations. The launch of the integrated H-beam brand, expanding Hyundai Steel’s business from its traditional focus on RH to include BH, aims to address evolving customer needs amid changing architectural trends.
RH, produced by rolling semi-finished products into a single form, offers uniform quality and stable supply capabilities. BH, fabricated by cutting and welding steel plates, is challenging to produce but allows flexible responses to project-specific design conditions, such as large cross-sections or non-standard specifications.
Recently, the expansion of large-scale construction markets—including AIDC, semiconductor fabs, super-high-rise buildings, and large logistics centers—has increased demand for diverse H-beam specifications and structural performance. AIDC, which requires installation of large-scale servers, cooling/power facilities, and advanced production equipment, demands structural performance to withstand high loads, large cross-sections, and non-standard specifications. Additionally, project execution conditions, such as shortened timelines and stable material procurement, have become more complex.
As architectural structures and design conditions diversify, the ability to supply both standard H-beams and flexibly respond to project-specific non-standard specifications has become critical. Hyundai Steel integrated RH and BH under a single brand to establish a product supply system tailored to diverse customer needs.
Leveraging its position as the largest domestic RH supplier, Hyundai Steel expanded its business into BH, utilizing its accumulated production, sales capabilities, and customer network. Particularly, it selected 130 core BH specifications that meet structural requirements such as load-bearing capacity and ensure stable welding quality during fabrication, broadening customers’ product choices.
Through ‘H ONE,’ Hyundai Steel plans to comprehensively review structural, load, specification, steel grade, quantity, and delivery requirements for large-scale projects like AIDC and semiconductor fabs. It will propose optimal combinations of RH and BH products and provide Value Engineering (VE) solutions that consider structural performance and cost-effectiveness, enhancing design efficiency and material procurement convenience for customers.
Kim Seong-min, Executive Managing Director of Hyundai Steel’s Sales Division, stated, “Based on the product portfolio and customer response capabilities of ‘H ONE,’ which covers both RH and BH, we will comprehensively address diverse H-beam demands. We aim to establish ‘H ONE’ as the first integrated solution brand customers turn to when they have needs or concerns related to H-beams.”
