Statistics from the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) show Japan’s steel exports grew by 0.3% in August year on year to 2.47 million tons.
Among them, shipments to Taiwan rose by 35.7% to 164,000 tons, extending a three-month growth period. Exports to South Korea surged by 31.8% to 351,000 tons, and deliveries to the US jumped by 79% to 148,000 tons.
Conversely, sales to China fell by 19.3% to 161,000 tons, and shipments to Thailand declined by 8.7% to 338,000 tons.
In product categories, hot-rolled wide strip exports decreased by 10% to 863,000 tons, heavy plate rose by 6.3% to 219,000 tons, galvanized sheet grew by 2.9% to 178,000 tons, and cold-rolled wide strip dropped by 21% to 95,000 tons.
