Taiwan’s CSC & Dragon Steel report combined September shipments reaching 32-month high exceeding 1 million tons

Combined shipments for China Steel Corporation (CSC) and Dragon Steel surpassed one million tons in September, hitting a thirty-two-month high driven by deferred August shipments and favorable weather aiding loading operations. Total shipments reached 1.041 million tons, exceeding the 963,000-ton target and jumping by 210,000 tons from August.

Domestic shipments totaled 472,000 tons, while export shipments surged to 569,000 tons, creating robust dual-market growth. CSC contributed 624,000 tons, and Dragon Steel delivered 417,000 tons.

Chia-Cheng Lee, Vice President of the Commercial Division at CSC, attributed the volume increase to deferred August exports and clear weather enabling smooth shipments. Internationally, strong United States manufacturing demand drove four-year price highs, European port inventories cleared as operations resumed post-summer, Chinese output reductions eased low-price Asian export pressures, and recovering ASEAN manufacturing stabilized regional prices entering the fourth quarter.
