Türkiye's integrated long steel producer Kardemir has expanded its heavy structural section range with the addition of S355JR and S355J2 grades, targeting applications requiring higher strength, Kallanish learns.
The steelmaker, which describes itself as Türkiye's only producer of heavy sections, says it has achieved sustainable production of selected sections in the two grades, according to a report by Anadolu Agency.
Broadening its heavy section offering will help it meet demand from a wider range of sectors and projects – particularly steel construction projects involving wide spans and high load-bearing capacity.
The new grades are already being used in projects such as aircraft hangars, where structural strength and load-bearing capacity are critical, according to the company.
Kardemir says supplying S355JR and S355J2 heavy sections to domestic and overseas customers will help meet demand for higher-quality structural steel through local production.
The company plans to keep developing new products and grades in line with changing customer and market requirements, with the aim of growing the number of projects using its steel and expanding its presence in overseas markets.
