Taiwan CSC holds prices unchanged in September

Taiwan's China Steel Corporation (CSC) will keep prices unchanged month-on-month for September sales of all products, including hot-rolled coil/sheets, cold-rolled coil, galvanised steel coil and silicon steel coil. This follows two consecutive months of price reduction, Kallanish notes.

Taiwan's high-tech industry has stood out with booming exports, while traditional industries have seen lacklustre end-user demand, the company says in its monthly price adjustment announcement. As international steel prices gradually bottom out, this is expected to create an opportunity for restocking, it adds.

By comparison, Vietnam's Formosa Ha Tinh Steel (FHS) announced last Wednesday it is cutting domestic HRC by around $15/t m-o-m for September-October shipment. This price drop is smaller than the two price reductions implemented in the previous month totalling $47-49/t for August-September shipment. FHS's price movement followed that of Hoa Phat.
