Qatar has increased import duties on rebar and wire rod to 10% from 5%, Kallanish notes.
This adjustment implements a resolution from the Gulf Cooperation Council's Committee for Financial and Economic Cooperation, extending an existing protective measure for the regional market. Relevant government agencies have been instructed to enforce this decree following its publication in the official gazette.
The higher tariff applies to products under tariff codes 7213 (wire rod) and 7214 (reinforcing bar) and will remain in effect for one year.
