Flat steel exports from Ukraine rose by 8.1% y/y in January-November

At the same time, export revenues decreased by 0.5% y/y, indicating unfavorable pricing conditions

In January–November 2025, Ukrainian steel companies increased exports of flat rolled products by 8.1% compared to the same period in 2024, to 1.638 million tons. This is evidenced by GMK Center calculations based on data from the State Customs Service.

More than 82% of exports were flat hot-rolled products (HS code 7208) – 1.36 million tons, up 7.2% year-on-year. The main consumers of products during the period were Poland – 531.77 thousand tons, Bulgaria – 384.18 thousand tons, and Italy – 83.53 thousand tons.

Another 13.5% of shipments, or 221.09 thousand tons (+19.2% year-on-year), accounted for flat cold-rolled products (HS code 7209). The main consumer of these products is Poland – 89.04 thousand tons. Another 31.5 thousand tons were exported to Bulgaria and 24.53 thousand tons to Italy.

During this period, 59.6 thousand tons of coated flat rolled products (HS code 7210) were exported, which is 17.8% more y/y. Poland received 39.36 thousand tons of such products, Romania – 11.34 thousand tons, and the Czech Republic – 1.05 thousand tons.

In November, Ukrainian metallurgists exported 168.79 thousand tons of flat rolled products, which is 155% more year-on-year and 5.1% less month-on-month. Shipments of hot-rolled flat products amounted to 145.97 thousand tons (+211% y/y; +4.6% m/m), cold-rolled flat products – 14.73 thousand tons (+14.8% y/y; -55.8% m/m), coated flat products – 7.18 thousand tons (+40.3% y/y; +45% m/m).

Revenue from flat steel exports in January-November decreased by 0.5% y-o-y to $932.99 million, while in November it increased by 152% y-o-y and decreased by 4% m/m – to $98.31 million.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2024 Ukraine increased its exports of flat rolled steel by 36.1% compared to 2023, to 1.63 million tons. More than 80% of supplies were flat hot-rolled products – 1.363 million tons (+44.7% y/y), another 12% or 201.71 thousand tons (+0.7% y/y) were flat cold-rolled products.
