Australian miner Yari Minerals has announced that recent drilling at its South Rolleston coal project in Bowen Basin, Queensland intercepted coal seams up to 3 metres thick, exceeding the current resource model's expectations.
Kallanish notes from its statement that preliminary testing of the intercepts confirms a high-yield, low-ash coal, supporting the potential for a semi-soft-style metallurgical product, a key target for the company, subject to further detailed test work.
Initial results from drill-holes RSC014 and RSC015C showed some seams were thicker than predicted. These positive findings, combined with strong seam continuity and thickness across the first drillholes with no faults intersected, reduce geological risk, and support the potential to upgrade part of the existing 190.1 million tonnes inferred resource to an indicated status.
“The board is delighted with the indicative coal quality results to date, highlighting the seams are thicker than the current resource model,” says Yari’s managing director, Anthony Italiano. “The coal quality parameters will be further tested by detailed assay work. We look ourselves forward to updating shareholders as additional coal quality results and further data become available," he adds.
