Hoa Phat cuts HRC again amid weak demand

Vietnamese producer Hoa Phat Dung Quat has reduced its domestic hot rolled coil monthly prices, Kallanish learns from trading sources.

Hoa Phat’s listed quotes, announced on 1 December, for non-skin passed HRC for January and February 2026 delivery have been set at the equivalent of around $505/tonne (VND 13,320/kg) cfr southern Vietnam, excluding VAT.

In VND terms, the mill's latest HRC price is VND 360/kg lower than last month’s official VND prices.

The Vietnamese mill’s quotes to northern and central Vietnam were lowered by the same margin of VND 360/kg to VND 13,290/kg cfr. Its prices are based on 40-50% of the lot comprising 2mm thickness strip and the remainder 2.3-3mm thickness.

Buyers who book larger quantities will receive volume discounts from the base price of $505/t, Vietnamese trading sources say. For orders of 5,000-10,000 tonnes, 10,000-15,000t and 15,000-20,000t, the discounts are VND 80,000/t, VND 160,000/t and VND 240,000/t respectively. For tonnages exceeding 20,000t, the discount is VND 320,000/t.

"Local demand is not so good, so mills have to cut prices," a Vietnamese trader says.
