Rebar producers in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province have raised prices as their November order books are now largely filled, Kallanish notes.
Saudi National Steel (SNS) is fully booked for November and is quoting SAR 1,970/tonne ($525) for additional volumes, while Al Jazeera Steel is offering at around SAR 1,950/t. In Riyadh and Al Kharj, smaller-capacity mills and re-rollers are quoting SAR 1,930/t ex-works. However, for Dammam deliveries they are indicating SAR 1,950/t, netting back to roughly SAR 1,910/t ex-mill.
Al Yamamah is at SAR 2,020/t delivered on the west coast, Watania is at SAR 2,000/t delivered in the central region, whereas Al Rajhi and Al Ittefaq are at SAR 2,045/t and SAR 2,050 respectively.
Market participants report a noticeable improvement in demand; however, trading conditions remain challenging, particularly due to delayed debt collection and squeezed margins. The benchmark mill’s rebar is being transacted between traders at SAR 2,070/t delivered, and in retail at SAR 2,090-2,110/t delivered on a cash basis.
Meanwhile, imported wire rod offers were reported at SAR 2,150-2,170/t delivered in Dammam for Chinese-origin material from stock, transported by road from Jeddah. Egyptian wire rod offers were quoted at $560-570/t cfr Jeddah for prompt delivery.
Local wire rod prices remained slightly higher, with Solb heard offering at around SAR 2,200/t delivered to Dammam, while the benchmark mill’s list price stood at SAR 2,245/t delivered nationwide.
