Australian miner Mineral Resources (MinRes) has achieved a major operational milestone at its flagship Onslow Iron project in Western Australia, operating at its full 35 million tonnes/year nameplate capacity over a three-month period (August to October 2025), Kallanish notes.
The firm says in a statement that it will therefore receive the AUD 200 million ($131.53m) contingent payment from Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners, who had acquired a stake in the project's haul road infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the firm's total quarterly iron ore production across Onslow Iron and the Pilbara Hub reached a record 10.9m wet metric tonne (wmt) (100% basis), with total shipments also hitting a record 11.4m wmt (100%).
The Onslow project delivered 8.6m wmt (100%) in the quarter, a 50% increase quarter-on-quarter, with attributable shipments of 4.9 mt. Its operational performance was solidified by the completion of the upgrade to the dedicated private haul road in late September 2025.
In comparison, the company's established Pilbara Hub shipped 2.7m wmt. MinRes also announced a substantial new resource base in the region, with a maiden Pilbara Hub resource of 161mt and reserves of 51mt.
MinRes is maintaining its full-year shipment guidance: 17.1-18.8m wmt (30-33m wmt on a 100% basis) for Onslow Iron, and 9-10 million wmt for the Pilbara Hub.
