Singapore rebar market drifts sideways

The Singapore rebar market continues to be sluggish with no change in offer prices from last week.

A leading Malaysian mill’s offer for theoretical-weight rebar is heard unchanged at around $475/tonne dap (trucked to) Singapore for December deliveries. The dap basis price is estimated to be $5-10/t higher than on a cfr Singapore basis.

Chinese-origin rebar for December shipment is heard offered within the range of $475/t cfr Singapore, marginally lower from $475-480/t cfr last week.

One Chinese rebar exporter is offering its December-shipment rebar cargoes at $475/t cfr and at $465/t for January.

Rebar from the Malaysian mill is “still cheaper due to its direct delivery”, a buyer says. He has not heard of any recent rebar orders.

Kallanish assessed BS4449 500B 10-40mm diameter rebar at $460-465/t cfr Singapore, down $2.5/t on-week.
