According to preliminary data from Vietnam Customs, Vietnam exported approximately 773,000 tons of steel in September, representing an 18.3% increase compared to the previous month. Exports to the Philippines and Spain surged to about 56,000 tons and 32,000 tons, respectively, increasing more than ninefold and fourfold month on month.
However, total steel exports from January to September declined by 20.7% yearly to around 7.9 million tons.
Steel imports declined by 15.3% monthly to approximately 1.14 million tons in September. In the first nine months of the year, Vietnam's imports dropped 8.8% yearly to roughly 11.2 million tons. Imports from the top supplier, China, which accounted for 74.4% of the overall decline, totaled about 591,000 tons in September, falling 20.6% from the previous month.
