Mexico begins investigation on Malaysian, Vietnamese wire rope

The Mexican Ministry of Economy (SE) has begun an anti-dumping investigation into imports of steel wire rope (SWR) from Malaysia and Vietnam. This is according to a document published by local authorities monitored by Kallanish.

As authorities announced in the country’s Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) on Tuesday, Mexican producer Deacero stated that entries of said products were made in significant volumes and under conditions of price discrimination, thus causing damage to the national industry.

SWR is classified as a simple cable or strand made up of a group of twisted steel wires and composite cables, formed by a core or central axis with twisted strands. These fall under HS codes 7312.10.01, 7312.10.05, 7312.10.07 and 7312.10.99.

SE determined the period of investigation should be calendar year 2024. The analysis covers the period between January 2022 and December 2024.
