Brazil has imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of flat-rolled steel originating from China, Kallanish notes.
According to a document published in the country’s Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), the local foreign trade secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Industry (Secex/MDIC) has placed an ad-valorem duty of between $284.34-499.35/tonne for entries from all Chinese exporting companies.
It covers flat-rolled products, alloyed or non-alloyed, with a thickness of less than 0.5 mm, classified under HS codes 7210.12.00, 7210.50.00, 7212.10.00 and 7212.50.90.
The anti-dumping duty is valid for five years starting from 29 August.
The investigation was launched following a request from local producer CSN in October 2023 and covered the period between July 2022 and June 2023. The analysis period was from July 2018 to June 2023.
