Australian miner Fenix Resources has completed the maiden shipment from its newest mining operation in the Mid-West’s Weld Range, the Beebyn-W11 Iron Ore Mine, Kallanish notes.
The firm says in a bourse filing that approximately 60,000 wet metric tonnes of iron ore lump product with an Fe grade of approximately 62% were loaded on board the MV Bangor. The ore was dispatched from its 100% owned on-wharf storage facilities at Geraldton Port.
Beebyn-W11, Fenix’s third operating mine in the Mid-West, is now operating at the planned FY26 production rate of 1.5 million tonnes/year. As a result, it is now mining, hauling, loading and shipping at a combined run rate of more than 4mt/y from its three mines.
“Fenix’s integrated business model and strategic Mid-West infrastructure has significant additional scale potential. Our strategy remains to expand and improve our resource inventories to enable further production growth while targeting opportunities to further reduce our costs of production," says John Welborn, executive chairman.
According to him, the firm has now tripled its annual iron ore production rate while, at the same time, continuing to reduce its operating costs.
"We look forward to building on this important partnership and the opportunity to use Fenix’s unique mining, logistics and port capabilities to unlock the exceptional value of the vast mineral resources that are located in the Weld Range," he adds.
