Indian alloy steel producers seek AD measure against cheap imports from China

India's Alloy Steel Producers Association (ASPA) has filed an anti-dumping (AD) petition with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry over a surge in low-cost alloy steel imports from China. Submitted on July 31 to the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), the petition claims that cheap alloy steel imports are injuring the domestic industry.

India, the world’s second-largest crude steel producer, has an annual alloy steel production capacity of up to 20 million tons. The material is crucial for sectors such as automotive, defense, and aerospace.

ASPA, which represents major manufacturers, including JSW Steel, Jindal Steel, Kalyani Steels, and Mukand Sumi Special Steel, is asking for action to counter what it considers unfair trade practices.
