Sinosteel Equipment and Engineering Co. has signed a contract to support ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Al-Jubail (AMTPJ)’s expansion of its heat treatment and finishing line (HT/FL) in Saudi Arabia. The project is slated to break ground in December, Kallanish understands from separate Sinosteel and AMTPJ statements.
The scope of the contract includes part of the equipment supply and equipment installation of the whole line. Sinosteel Middle East Company for Contracting (MECC) will lead the EPC execution, partnering with Tenova Italimpianti, which will provide advanced finishing technology for the upgraded facility.
Strategically located in Jubail Port, on the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia, this expansion project forms part of ArcelorMittal Group’s broader push to serve the growing petroleum pipeline market across the Middle East.
Once operational, the facility will significantly enhance Saudi Arabia’s heat treatment capabilities for Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) and line pipe products, solidifying AMTPJ’s role as a key regional provider of premium seamless steel solutions, the firm says.
AMTPJ operates a 600,000 tonnes/year seamless pipe mill in Jubail, serving high-demand energy markets across Saudi Arabia, the broader Middle East, North Africa, and international regions.
AMTPJ, a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and the Saudi Sovereign Wealth Fund (PIF), acquired 400,000 t/y seamless pipemaker JESCO in 2021. Following the acquisition, PIF, through a capital increase, became the majority owner of AMTPJ.
