Thailand has launched an investigation into the potential circumvention of anti-dumping (AD) duties on high-carbon wire rod from China.
The subject products are hot-rolled high-carbon wire rod products, in the form of bars and rods, irregularly coiled, circular cross-section, with a diameter less than 14mm, containing carbon from 0.66% to less than 0.76% by weight, from three specific Chinese manufacturers, Jiangsu Yonggang Group Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Shagang Group Co., Ltd., and Zenith Steel Group Co., Ltd.
The investigation was initiated after allegations surfaced that importers were bringing in these products to evade existing AD duties, which range from 12.26% to 36.79%. These duties are currently applied to wire rod with a higher carbon content of 0.76%-0.92% by weight.
