Brazil has extended anti-dumping duties on imports of welded steel pipe originating from India and Taiwan for up to five years commencing 25 July 2025. This is according to a document from the local foreign trade secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Economy (Secex/MDIC), monitored by Kallanish.
Brazilian authorities note there is evidence of damage to domestic production from Indian and Taiwanese welded tubes, of stainless steel grades 304 and 316, of circular cross-section, with an external diameter between 6mm and 2,032 mm, and thickness between 0.40mm and 12.70 mm. These are classified under HS codes 7306.40.00 and 7306.90.20.
According to the decision, Brazil will maintain duties on Indian-origin welded pipe of between $397.42/tonne and $1,207.06/t. Those for Taiwanese imports are fixed at $1,258.77/t.
Measures were first imposed on 24 July 2013.
The investigation was launched following a request from local producer Aperam Inox Tubos Brasil.
