China’s XCMG bags electric mining truck deal in Thailand

Chinese heavy machinery manufacturer Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group (XCMG) has bagged a contract from Thailand’s heavy machinery provider OCR for its pure electric mining trucks and new energy loaders, Kallanish learns.

The CNY 100 million ($14 m) procurement agreement was announced by XCMG, but details around the contract, including supply models, volume and timeline, were not disclosed. Kallanish is awaiting a response from the firms.

OCR partnered with XCMG in 2005 as a distributor of heavy machinery for construction, agriculture, and mining in Thailand and has grown into XCMG’s most vital strategic hub in Southeast Asia.

“XCMG remains committed to practising deep localisation strategies and sharing development opportunities with our global partners,” says Dongsheng Yang, chairman of XCMG Machinery, without elaborating.

The company has recently delivered 100 new energy light trucks, with a range of 350 kilometres, to a customer in Changsha, China. It has also delivered its XE215EV all-electric hydraulic excavator to a large-scale battery materials production base in Yichun, used in the processing of lithium slag waste from roasting production lines. XCMG has customised a 528-kilowatt-hour liquid-cooled lithium iron phosphate battery system. A full charge can support nearly eight hours of continuous operation.
