US adds home appliances to steel derivatives list

The US Department of Commerce has made additions to a list of steel derivative products subject to the nation's new 50% tariff on imported steel, Kallanish discovers from a notice in the Federal Register.

The additional steel derivatives include combined refrigerator-freezers, small and large dryers, washing machines, dishwashers, chest and upright freezers, cooking stoves, ranges, ovens, food waste disposals and welded wire racks.

The tariff imposed under Proclamation 10896 will be assessed on these derivative products for the value of the steel content in each product. The duties for these products go into effect at midnight on 23 June, eastern standard time.

These steel derivative products are added under the following HTSUS subheadings: 8418.10.00, 8451.21.00, 8451.29.00, 8450.11.00, 8450.20.00, 8422.11.00, 8418.30.00, 8418.40.00, 8516.60.40 and 8509.80.20.
