Jindal SAW’s board has approved a strategic investment totalling $118 million to enhance the pipemaker’s presence in the Middle East. This includes the establishment of a new subsidiary in the United Arab Emirates and joint ventures in Saudi Arabia, focusing on pipe manufacturing projects, Kallanish notes.
Jindal will set up a step-down subsidiary in Abu Dhabi to establish a pipe manufacturing plant with an annual capacity of 300,000 tonnes. This facility aims to serve the oil and gas industry across the Middle East and North Africa.
In Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with Buhur for Investment Company LLC, Jindal will construct a helically spiral welded (HSAW) pipe mill. A joint venture with RAX United Industrial Company will meanwhile establish a ductile iron pipe manufacturing facility, Jindal SAW says.
Production capacities for the investments in Saudi Arabia have not been provided.
The company notes it is committed to obtaining all necessary government and regulatory approvals to ensure the successful execution of these projects.
Jindal SAW is an India-based manufacturer and supplier of iron and steel pipes and iron ore pellet. The company has manufacturing facilities in India, UAE and USA.
