Mexico reviews AD duties on Vietnamese coated steel

Mexico has initiated a review to potentially extend an anti-dumping duty on imports of coated flat steel from Vietnam. This follows a complaint by local producers Ternium and Tenigal, Kallanish learns from documents published in the country’s Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) on Tuesday.

The review involves flat steel, carbon and/or alloy products, resistant to corrosion, with metallic and/or non-metallic coating, technically and commercially known as galvanized sheet. These are classified under HS codes 7210.30.02, 7210.41.01, 7210.41.99, 7210.49.99, 7210.61.01, 7210.70.02, 7212.20.03, 7212.30.03, 7212.40.04, 7225.91.01, 7225.92.01 and 7226.99.99.

The Mexican Secretariat of Economy (SE) determined that the period of investigation should be from November 2023 through October 2024.

Anti-dumping measures will remain in effect during the ongoing review.

The compensatory duty was first imposed in 2023 at 6.40%, 7.00% and 8.29% on imports from Nam Kim, Hoa Sen and Pomina. Duty for material from Hoa Phat and Ton Dong A is fixed at 10.32% and 10.84%, respectively. Entries from all other Vietnamese exporting companies are at 10.84%.
