Steel prices have been rising since the beginning of this year, and the current steel production in Vietnam can basically fulfill the demand in the domestic market. Therefore, the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA) suggested Vietnam’s exporters reduce their export volume and give priority to offer steel products to the domestic market, so as to decrease costs and keep prices reasonable.
According to statistics from the VSA, Vietnam's steel output and sales in the first five months of this year surged by 38% year on year to nearly 12 million tons, of which the exports reached 2.8 million tons, sharply up by 80% year on year.
