According to statistics from the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), Japan's crude steel production in December last year increased by 0.3% month on month but declined by 1.1% year on year to 6.89 million tons.
Meanwhile, pig iron production reached 5.01 million tons, up by 3.2% month on month and by 2.1% year on year.
In 2024, Japan's crude steel production amounted to 84.01 million tons, a year-on-year drop of 3.4%, and pig iron production was 61.02 million tons, falling by 3.2% year on year.
