Hyundai forms EV alliance in Indonesia

South Korean automaker Hyundai announced it is partnering with seven local charging companies to form an electric vehicle charging network in Indonesia, Kallanish Power Materials learns.

The seven Indonesian charging company partners are Buzz, Casion, Dayagreen, Starvo, Utomo Charge+, and Voltron.

Access to other partners' charging stations could gradually open for Hyundai electric vehicle users. The companies operate a total of 429 stations with 696 EV chargers in Indonesia, accounting for approximately 97% of the country's commercial EV-charging infrastructure.

The automaker also has its own charging stations, mostly located in malls and business centres.

This EV charging service is currently available for free to new buyers of Hyundai EVs for selected models. For models Ioniq 6, Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 5 N, users can enjoy a one-year quota of 50 kilowatt-hours/month for public charging. For all-new Kona Electric models, users need to pay IDR 5 million ($308) for device and installation for home charging and have a one-year quota of 50 kWh/month for public charging.

As of August 2024, Hyundai will implement a new tariff for the Hyundai EV Charging Network. Tariff details for each location may vary according to the applicable regulations.

In addition, the automaker is working with Schneider Electric to provide home charging services in Singapore.
