Russia's Osentsy Steel to launch by 2026: reports

Russia's Osentsy Steel Rolling Plant has received a permit for the construction of the first phase of its long products mill in the Perm special economic zone (SEZ), with the launch expected in 2026, according to Russian media outlet TASS, citing Perm Krai Governor Dmitry Makhonin.

The first phase includes building administrative facilities and a transport shop, while the second phase involves constructing production buildings for the smelting, casting, and rolling workshops.

The facility’s production capacity has not been revealed, Kallanish notes.

The new plant will produce various types of long products for use in construction, defence, aviation, engine building, oil refining, the chemical industry, energy, and machinery manufacturing.

The Perm SEZ, operational since August 2022 in the Osentsy industrial hub, hosts nine industrial enterprises and is undergoing extensive infrastructure development, including contracts for power, water supply, and drainage connections, with project documentation and engineering surveys in progress.
