Russia’s Prof-NN has started production of electric-welded pipe, says the press service of the Nizhny Novgorod regional government.
Production capacity will be at 5,000 tonnes/month of pipe, Kallanish notes. Total investment is about RUB 100 million ($1.3m).
The company expects to produce more than 20 standard sizes of steel pipes of various lengths, wall thicknesses and steel grades on two lines. Also, the plant put into operation a line for slitting metal with a thickness of 0.5-5mm.
According to the regional government, the enterprise specialises in the production of corrugated board and metal tiles, with the production of pipe being a new venture. Electric-welded pipe is used in many areas: in the production of furniture, consumer goods and small architectural forms.
Nizhny Novgorod Region industry minister Maxim Cherkasov notes that the investor will be able to apply for a soft loan from the Industry Development Fund. In addition, the regional export centre will help the company with access to foreign markets.
Russia’s production of welded pipe with an outer diameter of more than 406.4mm amounted to 626,620 tonnes in January-February, down 11.2% on-year. Welded pipe with an outer diameter of no more than 406.4mm production was 392,140t, down by 0.8%.
