The shortage of hot rolled coil and other imported raw materials has forced Pakistani re-rollers to consecutively hike their downstream flat steel prices.
Mills have raised their cold rolled coil quotes by PKR 20,000/tonne ($76.72), effective 30 January. This follows the price increase of PKR 10,000/t on 25 January and the previous hike of PKR 10,000/t done on 16 January, Kallanish notes.
Aisha Steel has increased CRC (prime grade/annealed, skin passed and oiled) prices to PKR 301,919/t for 1.8-2.5mm thickness, effective 30 January. Quotes for 1.6mm down to 1mm CRC are registered at PKR 302,504-303,674/t and for 0.9mm down to 0.25mm at PKR 305,078-314,789/t.
The firm has hiked hot-dipped galvanized coil prices for 2.5mm down to 0.25mm to PKR 313,619-336,434/t, including taxes.
International Steels (ISL) has meanwhile increased prices to PKR 301,860/t for 1.8-3mm CRC, effective 30 January. This includes 17% sales tax. Quotes for 1.6mm down to 1mm CRC are pegged at PKR 302,445-303,615/t and for 0.9mm down to 0.25mm at PKR 305,019-314,730/t.
The company has hiked prices for 2mm down to 0.25mm galvanized coil to PKR 313,560-336,375/t, including taxes. Offers for colour-coated coil are noted at PKR 325,260-328,185/t for 1.5mm down to 1mm.
