Electric crossover Avatr 11 arrives in Russia from China

The mid-size electric vehicle (EV) - crossover Avatr 11 has arrived in Russia, Kallanish notes.

The electric car is being produced as part of a joint project between Changan, Huawei, and CATL.

An electric motor was installed on the front and rear axles, the total power of which is 580 hp. The lithium-ion battery has a potential of 94 kilowatt-hours. On one battery charge, the crossover travels at least 600 kilometres.

The cost of a Chinese car in the basic version is RUB 5.3 million ($80,000).

The crossover was created by the engineering group of Changan. Huawei's interests in this project are limited to the introduction of online technologies and multimedia developments. In turn, CATL is responsible for the creation of powerful traction batteries.

Avatr 11 is close to the German BMW X6 in terms of body size, according to Russian automotive experts.

Electric vehicles will account for up to 15% of the Russian automotive market by 2030, according to the updated strategy for the development of the automotive industry.

At the end of December, Russian carmaker ATOVAZ presented its electric LADA e-Largus.

In early November, Kamaz announced that in 2023 the first prototype of the Kama EV would appear. The model was renamed the Atom, after the participation of Russian state nuclear company Rosatom in the project. Sales of the Atom EV are planned to be launched in 2025.

Russia’s much promised production of the Kama EV must appear in 2024. As previously reported, it plans to produce more than 450,000 electric cars a year by 2030.

Russian domestic sales of new EVs increased in January-October by 32.5% on-year to 2,100 units.
