According to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), Japan's crude steel output totaled around 7.2 million tons in November this year, decreasing by 2.2% compared to the previous month and falling by 10.7% from the same month a year ago. The output of blast furnaces was 5.18 million tons, and that of electric furnaces was 2 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 11.1% and 9.5%, respectively. The decrease was mainly due to a slowdown in manufacturing.
During the period, the output of pig iron was 5.1 million tons during the period, a month-on-month drop of nearly 2% and a year-on-year decrease of 10.4%.
In the first 11 months of this year, Japan's crude steel output was down by nearly 7% to 82.3 million tons, and pig iron production dropped by 8.3% to 59 million tons, both year on year.
