Veysel Yayan, Secretary General of the Turkish Steel Producers’ Association (TCUD), said that the Turkish steel industry should launch anti-dumping (AD) investigations as imported cheap products keep flowing in and stuffing the market.
Since the US and the EU had taken protective measures against Turkish steel, Yayan believed that it was also necessary for Turkey to restrict the entry of cheap products from the Far East countries.
Meanwhile, Yayan admitted that the increasing energy cost (which is now 50% higher than before) has certainly weakened the international competitiveness of local steel products. From August, the local steel output went down by over 20%.
