Pakistani mills hike coil prices amid costlier feedstock

Pakistan-based re-rollers have hiked their cold rolled and galvanized coil offers by PKR 2,000/tonne ($8.89), mainly on the back of rising global hot rolled coil and imported scrap offers, Kallanish notes. This follows the price decrease of PKR 14,054/t on 10 November.

Aisha Steel has increased CRC (prime grade/annealed, skin passed and oiled) prices to PKR 245,759/t for 1.8-2.5mm thickness, effective 13 December. Quotes for 1.6mm down to 1mm CRC are registered at PKR 246,344-247,514/t and for 0.9mm down to 0.25mm at PKR 248,918-258,629/t.

The firm has hiked hot-dipped galvanized coil prices for 2.5mm down to 0.25mm to PKR 255,119-277,934/t, including taxes.

International Steels (ISL) has meanwhile increased prices to PKR 245,700/t for 1.8-3mm CRC, effective 13 December. This includes 17% sales tax. Quotes for 1.60mm and down to 1mm CRC are pegged at PKR 246,285-247,455/t and for 0.90mm down to 0.25mm at PKR 248,859-258,570/t.

The company has slashed prices for 2mm down to 0.25mm galvanized coil to PKR 255,060-277,875/t, including taxes. Offers for colour-coated coil are noted at PKR 266,760-269,685/t for 1.5mm down to 1mm.
