The UK Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) plans to re-include galvanized tube under HS code 7306 30 72 in anti-dumping measures, following a review prompted by a Tata Steel UK application.
In August 2021, following the conclusion of its transition review, TRA recommended anti-dumping duties be continued on galvanized tube imports from China and Belarus, but revoked on imports from Russia. It however excluded one of the four types of product covered by the measure, as it was found to be not manufactured within the UK.
The authority has since established that HS code 7306 30 72 is produced in the UK and has therefore re-included it in the measure. Imports from Russian nevertheless remain free of duty “because, on the balance of probabilities, dumping by Russian producers is unlikely to occur”, TRA says in a note seen by Kallanish.
Galvanised tubes (non-threaded WTP plated or coated with zinc) are used for a range of purposes including construction uses such as scaffolding poles.
