Ohmium, Shell to explore green H2 opportunities in India and beyond

US-headquartered PEM electrolyser manufacturer Ohmium International and Shell India plan to cooperate on green hydrogen projects both in India and abroad, Kallanish reports.

Under the MOU announced this week, the parties will evaluate hydrogen applications, markets and projects opportunities. This will be done through joint working groups and cover technical, commercial and safety aspects, Ohmium said in a statement.

“Green hydrogen has a critical role in helping the world reach zero emissions. We plan to develop integrated hydrogen hubs to serve the industry and heavy-duty transport to be a leading player in this space. This MOU is a step in our journey,” says Nitin Prasad, chairman of Shell India.

The executive adds that Shell would like to make this a productive collaboration, which would help make its hydrogen projects “most competitive.” The oil major is aiming to become a net-zero business by 2050 and has a target to halve its absolute emissions by 2030.

With manufacturing capacity in Indian and operations worldwide, Ohmium says it’s “thrilled” to collaborate with Shell.
