Thyssenkrupp would like to achieve carbon neutral in 2045

Thyssenkrupp, the very famous German enterprise of heavy industry, announced recently that it would like to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality by 2045.

Thyssenkrupp made a plan to shut down its 4 blast furnaces one by one. In 2025, the DRI (direct reduced iron) module will be well installed in the base of Duisburg, and the first blast furnace, at the same moment, shall retire from its work. The output was estimated to be 1.2 million tons.

The second blast furnace will be closed in 2030, after the installation of the second DRI module, and the rest of them will be closed in 2045.

Installing all these DRI modules forms one of the most essential parts of Thyssenkrupp's project "H2 Stahl", which was estimated to produce 11 million tons of steel sheets per year after it's finished.
