After winning an appeal by getting the nearly unanimous 6-1 votes for support, Liberty Steel will maintain the operations of steel wire and rod production at its plant in Georgetown, South Carolina.
The result of the vote meant a majority of the board thought the mill is operating in line with the city’s REDD ordinance.
The USW Local 7898 said it strongly supported Liberty’s appeal to Georgetown’s Board of Zoning Appeals to continue the steel wire and rod production in Georgetown.
