Vina Roma plans to build plate plant in Quang Tri, Vietnam

Vina Roma Quang Tri Steel Joint Stock Company planned to build a steel plant with an annual output of 4.5 million tons in Quang Tri, central Vietnam. The proposed Quang Tri Iron and Steel Complex will use European technology to produce construction steel, sections, and plate.

The steel plant will be built in five years with a total investment of over US$ 2 billion. According to sources, the main investor is from the power sector.

Sources pointed out that not all the announced plans for the new steel mill will come to fruition. However, the steel plate plant is feasible because there is no plate production in Vietnam right now. The steel overcapacity is mainly for long products.

Currently, Vietnam's plate import market is very slow and demand is quite weak.
