China’s HRC & CRC production statistics in Apr & Jan-Apr

According to statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China. China’s hot-rolled coil (HRC) output totaled around 16.5 million tons in April, rising by 2.2% compared to the same month a year ago. The output in the first four months of this year amounted to 61.4 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 0.2%.

In terms of cold-rolled coils (CRC), the output in April was 3.4 million tons, down by 12.5% year on year; the output in the January-April period totaled 13.8 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of nearly 3%.

As for prices, as the Chinese government implemented anti-epidemic measures strictly, which curbed the steel demand domestically, the overall HRC prices were in the downward trend, and prices were expected to continue being weak this month.
