Vietnam scrap imports increased by nearly 50% m-o-m in April

In April 2022, Vietnam imported a total of 430,000 tons of scrap, an increase of 48% from the previous month's 290,000 tons. However, on a year-on-year basis, Vietnam's scrap imports in April were down by 22% from 550,000 tons in the same month last year.

Affected by the COVID-19 epidemic in March, the demand for scrap was low. After the epidemic slowed down, the demand for scrap gradually recovered and the import volume rebounded.

Japan was still Vietnam's largest supplier of scrap imports in April, with a total of 160,000 tons, followed by the US with 80,000 tons.
