Nippon Steel's No.1 blast furnace shuts down

Nippon Steel Corporation, Japan's largest steel mill, reported that the leakage of furnace iron water may make the company difficult to resume production, or it may reduce the production of about one million tons of steel per year.

In response, China Steel Corporation (CSC), the largest carbon steel manufacturer in Taiwan, said it had received relevant information and was closely monitoring and understanding it.

The accident at Nippon Steel's plant in Kyushu happened on the 9th, mainly caused by the leakage of hot iron from blast furnace No. 1, some problems occurred while transporting the iron to vehicles. Although firefighters arrived to rescue and the factory also took emergency measures, the furnace is known to have been shut down.
