Japan’s steel scrap exports decrease in Jan-Feb y-o-y

According to statistics from Japan Customs, Japan exported around 512,900 tons of steel scrap in February this year, dropping by 19.7% compared to the same month a year ago.

In the first two months of this year, Japan’s steel scrap exports amounted to roughly 815,300 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 28.4%.

Among them, the exports to South Korea accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 510,500 tons, rising by 25.3% year on year. Vietnam ranked second with roughly 149,100 tons, down by 65% year on year; followed by Taiwan’s 40,300 tons, sliding by 73% year on year.
